4 Sheets of homasote board, on loan, steel studs, paint, consignment agreement.
12 x 8 x 8 ft.
Transmission performs the shift of value as a social contract in which 4 panels of Homasote board were on loan to me as material for the production of an artwork. Articulating a triangulated agreement between LMCC Inc., Building 110 (owned by the Trust for Governors Island) and myself, this structural reconfiguration questions the transformed value of these panels while they function as part of an artwork and temporarily imbued with cultural capital. Transmission explores how value is created using "social alchemy" as well as proposing that this value, or authenticity, can expire based on contractual terms.
